The point is buffets (and smorgasbords) are amazing and we’ve got quite a few exceptional ones right here on the Gold Coast. Here they are from north to south. Happy binge eating.

Found at Seaworld in Main Beach, Shoreline caters for a huge array of international visitors and that means a huge array of international-inspired eats. The offerings are big and there are fun times in the name of themed nights including tropical barbecue nights, Italian nights, seafood nights and live cooking demonstrations. There’s also a lolly station so get there. Open for breakfast and dinner.

Il Barocco
It’s a quality over quantity affair at Palazzo Versace’s Il Barocco. The team use the very best, locally sourced seafood and the aim of the game is to create a fresh, diverse looking buffet. Besides exceptional seafood, there are both hot and cold meats, vegetarian dishes and the prettiest dessert section. Treat yourself why don’t you. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Terraces Restaurant
It’s a seafood buffet extravaganza in Main Beach and, having tried and tested this one ourselves recently, we can tell you it’s got all the very best things. Yes, fresh seafood galore but also a whole charcuterie section, an excellent Asian dish section and MANY delicious desserts. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

First of all, I would like to wish everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope that everyone had a great countdown with loved ones!
We decided to head to The Star (previously known as Jupiters) for a lunch buffet to celebrate the New Year. Jacky have always wanted to bring me to Jupiters mainly because their prices for buffet were very affordable as well as there were shows performed during certain periods. Due to our busy schedules, we were unable to visit the place and now, they have changed to The Star.
When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by the friendly staff which then gave us a really quick tour around the buffet before showing us to our seats. We definitely felt very welcome from the team.
Even though we entered the buffet around 20 minutes after their opening time, the restaurant was already packed with people. The restaurant was very busy and everyone was lining up to grab their food. They had a variety of selection of food, which includes Italian, Asian, Western, Kids section as well as Desserts. I was very impressed as they were constantly replenishing their food as soon as it looks low.
They also had a drink station which provided soft drinks, juices, coffee and tea. Did I mention, they provided a coffee machine rather than the instant packet coffees! This is so much better than an instant coffee! One thing that I was sad about was that they do not provide the lactose free milk option! But, I mean, you can’t cater for every single person aye.
Next stop, my favourite! DESSERT TIME! I was so excited to try out their dessert as they have quite a wide variety of selection! Plus, they have my favourite, creme brûlée and apple strudel!!! You can see the chefs preparing some of the dessert on the spot! They also had an soft serve machine at the corner if anyone would like to have some.
I grabbed three different dessert and I have to say… I am so so so surprised. I usually have a lower expectation for the dessert provided in the buffet but, the creme brûlée was smoooothhhhh. The apple strudel was delicious! The bigger surprise was the vanilla slice. I think most of you would agree with me that when you go to a buffet that serves cake slices, the creme is usually dry and very tough! This was different! The sponge was moist and the creme was smooth and light! I forced myself to grab another creme brûlée at the end because it was that good.
Overall, we were very surprised at the selection of food that they have provided. Jacky mentioned that it used to be a smaller variety of food and the staff were also a less attentive and unfriendly. In comparison to Bazaar (if you haven’t already read my post on Bazaar, click here!), the decorations are definitely a little lacking, but there was much more variety of food. We were also impressed of the food that they served but what the best thing for me was definitely the desserts! Not only were there a lot of different choices, but they were also delicious and presentation was great. Overall, the price was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend friends and family to come over for buffets!
